Gotye, Carly Rae Jepsen, Maroon 5 - see the tracks that have sold the most in the past 12 months
The biggest selling UK single of 2012 has been announced by The Official Charts Company this week and - wait for it - it's Gotye, with 'Somebody That I Used To Know'. And now you'll have it in your head for the rest of the day. You're welcome.
The track, which features Kimbra, sold 1.28 million copies, hit the number one spot on the UK singles charts in February and stayed there for five weeks. The song took the crown from Adele, who had the number one place on the chart last year with her hit 'Someone Like You', the biggest selling single of 2011.
There are only 123 songs which have scored over a million sales in the history of the Official UK Charts, and 'Somebody That I Used To Know' is one of them. The top three songs on the list are also part of 2012's most played songs around the world on Spotify.
But that's not to say that the chart can't change. Christmas is coming up, and December is traditionally a month of record-breaking single sales - particularly in the race for Christmas number one.
