5 December, 2012: This year, Mumford & Sons have gone from being a very successful British band to one of the biggest bands of the year, claiming the fastest selling record of 2012 with their second release, Babel.
The band are currently in the middle of their Tour Of Two Halves, having already performed small shows in Torquay, Portsmouth, Ipswich, Dundee, Carlise and Llandudno. They are now onto some of the biggest venues in the UK, and last night performed at Glasgow's SECC. The tour finishes at London's O2 on 18 December after shows in Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast and Dublin.
Despite their ever-increasing success, Mumford & Sons have claimed they don't want to become like Coldplay, with Marcus Mumford telling GQ that they have no ambitions to become the world's biggest band. "No disrespect to Coldplay. But we want to do things pretty differently," he told the magazine. "It’s not about being as big as we can be. We don’t want to conquer anything."
