Will.i.am has revealed the reason why Tulisa's version of his new hit 'Scream & Shout' was scrapped in favour of Britney Spears.
Tulisa had apparently co-written the song and recorded it, originally titled 'I Don't Give A F**k', for her own album The Female Boss.
A source told The Sun, "The song was due to be Tulisa's third single from her album until Will told his protégé Jean that he wanted the beat for him and Britney."
Now Will.i.am has given his side of the story, saying that although Tulisa did record a version of the song, the producers just didn't want her to have the beats.
He told MTV, "She [Tulisa] wrote to that song [Scream & Shout] before I did - this is the truth.
"But the producers of the beat - two brothers from Belgium called Lazy Jay - didn’t want her to have it, so I wrote to it and Britney is the only person I ever had in mind."
Tulisa could have done with a hit for her album, The Female Boss
Will.i.am went on to talk to MTV about singing reality TV shows, such as The X Factor and The Voice - which he is confirmed as coming back as a judge for.
He said, "It would be sad if they were over, because then what does the music industry have? It's the only thing we have left and unfortunately we need them all.
"Shows like The X Factor, The Voice, American Idol, Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent are the real record companies.
"One Direction came from X Factor so they've produced hit monsters, so it's not over when you're still finding monster talent."
