Union J have signed a record deal with Sony music, announcing the news during a club gig in Cardiff. An album will be released in 2013.
It was recently rumoured that Union J had signed a management deal with Louis Walsh. It has now been confirmed that the boy band, who finished fourth in this year's series of X Factor, will follow in the footsteps of fellow contestant Ella Henderson, who also recently announced signing with Sony.
This will come as welcome news to fans of the band, as X Factor runners up have a history of outdoing the winners of the series; fellow X Factor boy bands One Direction and JLS both missed the winning spot in their respective series and are now considered amongst the biggest acts around at the moment.

Jaymi Hensley of Union J told MTV: "It's amazing. It's been a crazy week. "Obviously when we came out of the show the dream was to get a record deal and we're going to Sony today to sort out all the contracts and stuff. Before Christmas we will have our deal finalised."
The band originally auditioned as trio, with fourth member George Shelley joining them at the judges' houses stage of the competition following Rough Copy dropping out of the competition.
Union J will join other X Factor finalists James Arthur, Christopher Maloney, Jahmene Douglas, Ella Henderson, Rylan Clark and District 3 on the X Factor tour beginning on 26 January in Manchester.
