2005 X Factor winner Shayne Ward is hoping that his stint on Dancing On Ice will revive his pop career, which floundered after a string of hit singles.
Although his first single, 'That's My Goal', became the third fastest selling single of all time, Ward was dropped by his record label after his third album failed to even chart in the Top Ten.
Now Ward has admitted that he thinks the reason his career failed is because Cowell was, at the time, giving all his attention to Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis.
Ward told The Sun, "I'd be lying if I said it was fine - I'd have liked more attention."
He went on to say that he hopes his time on Dancing On Ice will help relaunch his pop career, adding, "People have got to remember that the label took me away for three years. That three years didn't do me any favours.
"I lost a large fanbase and released my Obsession album and before I knew it, I wasn't with a label."
However, unlike other X Factor winners, Ward insisted that he's not bitter and doesn't see the point in holding a grudge. He continued, "I don't see the point in being bitter.
"Let's just say better decisions could have been made on certain things. I'm very happy with what I achieved with the time I had with the label."
Ward previously warned James Arthur about his time in the industry, telling him to stay away from the 'wrong people'.
He told Digital Spy, "My advice to him... Just learn as much as you can from the get go. It's easy to have the wrong type of people around you."
