The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have just released the cover art for their forthcoming album Mosquito and the weird record sleeve has left fans questioning the band's sanity as well as inspiring us to find some other obscure album artwork.

We've put together a list of similarly mental album covers from some of the biggest artists in the world, who were either trying to get a reaction or were just a bit mad.

In some cases the cover art evokes more emotion that the music inside, but who can blame the artists for trying to make their records stand out from a crowded shelf.
