Band celebrate 2012 success with London show
20 Janury, 2013: Alt-J are going to have to go some way to top their massive 2012, but if the first few weeks of this year are anything to go by, they might just do it.
After winning the Mercury Music Prize in 2013 for their debut album An Awesome Wave, the band have picked up three nominations for the 2013 BRIT Awards - which they said are an awards ceremony they never thought they'd get a nomination for.
Keyboardist Gus Unger-Hamilton told NME, "It's mad, really. I mean, the Brit Awards: we thought this this wouldn't be for the likes of us, but it's incredible."
The band also performed a sold-out show at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire on Sunday night, proving that these newcomers are leading the charge for the UK's biggest and brightest new bands. Bring on The BRITs, we reckon Alt-J are going to be even more surprised when they sweep the board...
