A leading sound production website claim Beyonce did sing live at President Obama's inauguration - but did use a pre-recorded backing track to aid her performance.
The pop icon has hit the headlines for alledgedly miming the US national anthem in front of an estimated 800,000 people.
A spokeswoman for the Marine Corps Band told The Times that Beyonce decided before her appearance that she would use a pre-recorded track as she didn't want to risk singing live.
However, ProductionAdvice.co.uk have lept to Beyonce's defence, stating that there are three signs that she is singing live.
Watch the performance below and decide for yourself:
The sound experts said: "When she starts singing, her voice is hard to hear – the microphone gain is too low. The sound-man quickly corrects this – but if we were listening to a recording this wouldn’t happen".
The sound website also believes that Beyonce's vocals clearly change each time she changes the shape of her mouth which is known as "proximity effect".
