Reports of Foo Fighters' hiatus appear to have been greatly exagerrated, with frontman Dave Grohl revealing he is heading back to the US to start work on the band's next album this week.
Grohl has been in the UK recently to promote his new music documentary Sound City and play a show with the supergroup he formed to provide a soundtrack.
Sound City Players played the Kentish Town Forum, in London, on Tuesday (Febraury 19) and Grohl was in attendance at Wednesday night's BRIT Awards.
Many Foo Fighters fans had been prepared for a long wait for the band's next record following Grohl's comments during their headline set at Leeds Festival last year and given Grohl's numerous side projects.
But speaking with host James Corden at the BRITs Grohl said: "I return to Los Angeles tomorrow to start work on a Foo Fighters record."
He also revealed that he already had the album all planned out.
"We have a plan, we know exactly what's coming next and I have the music for the next record and we're going to start working on it once we finsih doing all this stuff.
"We have really awesome, big plans for the next album and I'm really excited about it."

Grohl has been a regualr feature in music press over the last few months with the release of his documentary Sound City, a film about the infamous Sound City Studios in California.
For the soundtrack Grohl assembled a 'supergroup' of musicians who have recorded the studio in the past including Stevie Nicks, Chris Goss and members of Nirvana.
Grohl also recorded a track with Paul McCartney, who joined Grohl and formed members of Nirvana to perform at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy benefit gig.
