Increasingly inked boyband One Direction have done a u-turn on a Twitter campaign aimed at fans to share their 1D tattoos, after fears it would send fans running to tattoo artists to get inked in order to take part.
The chart topping boyband had planned to include the images in their upcoming 3D documentary movie, which is being filmed by Supersize Me star, Morgan Spurlock. However, a tweet sent by the boyband had to be removed from the website after concerns that fans would get tattoos in order to get involved in the campaign.
"Have a real 1D tattoo? Show us! Submit a 90 sec YouTube video to 1d3dfan@gmail.com and show us why you should be in the @1D3Dmovie," read the tweet, which has now been deleted from the account.
A spokesperson for the band has now stated that the posting was an 'error', telling The Daily Mail: "This tweet was posted in error and has now been removed. One Direction do not want to encourage any of their fans to get 1D tattoos."

The increasingly inked boyband have spent as much time in tattoo studios as they have recording studios since their rise to fame, with Harry Styles recently revealing an enormous butterfly tattoo on his chest.
The new ink joins swallows on his chest, a ship on his left arm and numerous blobs and squiggles across the singer's torso.
