BBC Proms, traditionally an annual celebration of classical music, is expanding its horizons in 2013, adding a number of pop, rock and hip-hop stars to their 2013 line-up.
The Strangers, Laura Marling and Cery Matthews will perform at the first ever BBC Radio 6 Music prom, while former N Dubz rapper Fazer and BRIT Award nominee Maverick Sabre will perform at the Urban Classic Prom alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Speaking of his band's performance at the Proms, Strangers Jean-Jacues Burnel says in a statement: "I think we're the first band of a certain ilk, a certain generation, to be invited. I'm hoping it reflects the fact that we're one of the most melodic bands around."

"I'm delighted to be performing at one of the UK's most outstanding nights of the musical calendar, and to sing in front of thousands of people whilst being accompanied by the legendary BBC Concert Orchestra in such a special year is truly a dream come true," said Kylie in an official statement in 2012. Kylie is expected to release a collection of orchestral reworkings of classic hits later this year.
