Big stars - without their famous masks
Daft Punk's helmet aren't only iconic, but are also marketing genius. By hiding their faces, the robotic duo to appear ageless and elevates the concept behind the dance act beyond the people creating it.
It also allows the pair a degree of privacy, letting them stand in audiences or in the wings without anyone realising they've just walked past Daft Punk. It really is very clever. Bravo the French.
But while Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo might be the most iconic faceless musicians at the moment, they're far from the only artists who want to hide their faces.
Sometimes it's just for the sake of creating an iconic stage image, others it's a genuine effort to remain anonymous.
But whatever the intention, as soon as someone puts a mask on we immediately want to know what's underneath it, and we usually manage to find out.
Gigwise takes a look at some of the musicians trying to hide their faces.
