The Killers paid tribute to Muse, Coldplay, Queen, The Who and more and took the time to apologise to Green Day in a new song written especially for their gig at Wembley Stadium last night (Saturday 22 June). See footage of 'The Wembley Song' below.
The humorous number, a love letter to Wembley Stadium and their English fans, also saw Brandon Flowers tell George Michael to 'stay away from cars'.
Back in 2006, Flowers infamously slammed Green Day when he told The Word magazine: "You have Green Day and 'American Idiot'. Where do they film their DVD? In England. A bunch of kids screaming 'I don't want to be an American idiot' I saw it as a very negative thing towards Americans. It really lit a fire in me.
"I just thought it was really cheap. To go to a place like England or Germany and sing that song – those kids aren’t taking it the same way that he meant it. And he [Billie Joe Armstrong] knew it.”
But last night, running through a list of the acts that have headlined Wembley Flowers sung: "The Boss, The Stones, the man in black, the bitch is back and Fleetwood Mac, Take That, Bon Jovi, Green Day I said some shit - but that was the old me."
He continued: "U2, Oasis, The Foos, The Eagles, Metallica, Muse, Viva La Vida, AC/DC, G n' R, George Michael - stay away from cars."

Reviewing the gig, we said: "Their 23-song strong set feels like every good Wembley gig should: historic.
"It's a gig that will go down in the history of this hallowed ground. What happens in Wembley, stays in Wembley."
