27 June, 2013: The worst kept secret of the weekend (so far), saw Dry The River, Django Django and Alt-J 'surprise' Glastonbury-goers with secret sets in William's Green on Thursday night.

As the rain poured down outside, the three bands kicked off the festival in style and sent the packed tent into a frenzy. Considering all three acts were just warming up for their main slots this weekend, the whole evening felt like far more of a 'main event'.

Dry The River warmed up Glasto with a fiery performance of rich and accomplished open-road rock that made Mumford look like the Diet Coke of folk. If there's any justice, they'll be blowing up the Pyramid Stage in years to come. Django Django brought the evening to almighty peak with their eccentric and idiosyncratic quirk-rock that turned a tiny tent into a celebration of movement, but the roar reserved for Mercury-winners Alt-J was reflected with a set worthy of future headliners. With triangles aloft and a whole lot of dancing, three giants of the future got Glastonbury off to a memorable start. May history continue to be made.
