Diane Martel to direct video for 'Evil Eye'

The director of Robin Thicke’s controversial ‘Blurred Lines’ video, Diane Martel, has revealed she is working on the video for Franz Ferdinand’s next single.
The video for ‘Blurred Lines’ saw Thicke, TI and Pharrell Williams surrounded by three topless models. The video has since been criticised for being sexist and objectifying women.
Martel defended her video in an interview with Grantland, describing the video as ‘meta’.
“I wanted to have beautiful bodies and crazy, fucked-up sets. I thought about cheap props, crappy fun stuff. The video was goofy and innocent. I was channeling Benny Hill and 1960s variety shows.”
Speaking about her future work Martel hinted that she may work with Miley Cyrus again after directing the video for her single ‘We Can’t Stop’ among other projects.
“I'm doing the next Franz Ferdinand video for a great song called ‘Evil Eye’ and I’m excite about that. I have a few god ideas for some EDM videos where there would be no artists involved.

“I would love to work with Rihanna,” she added.
“I love Tyler, The Creator. I want to do more with Miley - we discussed a John Waters-style short film.”
Franz Ferdinand unveiled the video for their new track ‘Love Illumination’ earlier this week. The track, produced by Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor, is the lead single from the band’s new album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action.
