US production superstar Moby has revealed a special, acoustic version of his new single, 'The Perfect Life', a collaboration with Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips.
The single is the first official single to be taken from Moby's new album Innocents, following the recently revealed teaser track, 'A Case For Shame', a collaboration with London-based star Cold Specks.
The full version of the track is yet to be heard, but a teaser video sees Moby and Coyne perform an acoustic version of the single on an LA rooftop with barely-dressed extras after spending a day filming the official video. Check it out below.
"A few weeks ago Wayne and I spent the day making a video for 'The Perfect Life'," says Moby as he discusses the video. "Then at the end of the day we broke out an acoustic guitar and gathered all of the extras on a rooftop overlooking L.A and sang an unrehearsed, impromptu version of the song. Please keep in mind we had no idea what we were doing."
He also reveals how he and Wayne Coyne first became friends, crediting their time on the road with Red Hot Chili Peppers for bringing them together back in the nineties.
"Wayne and I first met in 1995, when The Flaming Lips and I were both opening up for a Red Hot Chili Peppers’ European tour," he adds. "We became friends, shared a dressing room and the same bad craft services, and watched the Chili Peppers from the side of the stage.
"I thought of Wayne for this song because The Flaming Lips have evolved in this very open, celebratory band when they play live, and that was the perfect vibe for what I was imagining for ‘The Perfect Life'."
