Katy Perry has hit No.1 on the UK iTunes chart with new single 'Roar', after making the decision to release the track earlier than planned.
The lead single from her new album Prism, the track was originally due for release on September 8, but Perry brought the release forward to today (September 1) seeing as the track is already out in most other countries.
The track has reached No. 2 in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, and knocks Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’ off the top spot in the UK iTunes.
Lady Gaga’s ‘Applause’, which was also recently released in a hurry after it leaked online, is currently No. 6.
The change of release date means it now clashes with Lady Gaga's appearance at the iTunes Festival.
“YAY UK!,” Perry tweeted about the news.
“A week early & by popular demand you can be louder than a lion! Finally, It’s your turn to ROAR!”

Speaking to MTV recently the pop singer promised her new album won’t contain any ‘darkness’ despite what she’d hinted at about it earlier.
“I was saying that when I was going through a different phase, but I really let the light in,” she said.
“The reason why I called this record Prism is because I actually finally let the light in.”
Katy Perry will close the iTunes Festival on September 30.
