James Blake and Foals also prove popular

Gigwise readers have named David Bowie's The Next Day as the album they most want to see pick up a Mercury Music Prize nomination at today's nominations ceremony in London.
The music icon narrowly beat former dubstep star James Blake into second place, with the singer/songwriter and producer's second album Overgrown also proving hugely popular with Gigwise readers.
Bowie's The Next Day was announced unexpectedly on the star's 66th birthday on 8 January 2013, on the same day that his comeback video 'Where Are We Now?' was also revealed. The Next Day scored Bowie a No.1 when it was released in 8 March 2013, after a hugely successful promotional campaign and string of stunning music videos.
Also proving hugely popular with Gigwise readers in our Mercury Music Prize poll was Foals' 2013 release Holy Fire, the album which saw the band take a step into the major league and earning them tips as future headliners on the UK festival scene. Newcomers London Grammar placed fourth in the poll, with their recently released If You Wait album landing ahead of Scottish rockers Frightened Rabbit with Pedestrian Verse, who placed at No.5.

At the other end of the poll, Example's club friendly album The Evolution Of Man proved least popular, and was voted the album Gigwise readers least wanted to see score a Mercury nod. The Joy Formidable's Wolf's Law was narrowly behind it, proving unpopular with Gigwise readers and being voted second least popular.
Stereophonics' Graffiti On The Train was voted third least popular, Noah & The Whale's Heart Of Nowhere fourth least popular, and Tom Odell's Long Way Down fifth least popular.
The Mercury Music Prize nominations are revealed later today (11 September, 2013) at a ceremony in London.
