David Bowie has unveiled the lyric video for a hotly-aniticipated remix of his classic 'Sound And Vision', from a recent mobile phone advert. Watch to a clip of the track below.
The track, from Bowie's seminal 1977 album Low, was reimagined by Sonjay Prabhaker for a commerical for a Sony smartphone earlier this year. Despite not being made available for purchase, fans sent a flurry of requests to Bowie and Sony to remand that a full download be released. Now, the remix will be released along with the original on 7 October, 2013.
A statement on Bowie's official website reads: "Many of you enquired how you could get your hands on a longer version than the tantalising 58 second one used in the advert. Well, now your prayers have been answered as Parlophone Records will release a new longer mix as a digital download on October 7th.
"Sound and Vision 2013 is a beautifully haunting reimagining of the song, re-worked from the original stems by remixer Sonjay Prabhakar. By stripping away much of the original instrumentation to just leave Roy Young’s plaintive piano, Mary Hopkin’s backing vocal and the lead vocal, the song takes on a new reflective resonance."
