MDNA star Madonna has been banned from a chain of US cinemas after she was caught sending text messages during the premiere of a new movie about the cruelties of the US slave trade.
Madonna was in the audience at a screening of Steve McQueen's 12 Years A Slave at the New York Film Festival when she reportedly disrupted other audience members with her phone use during the screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.
After the movie showing, the CEO of the cinema chain tweeted: "Until she apologises to movie fans, Madonna is banned from watching movies @drafthouse."
He later spoke to US website Entertaiment Weekly about the tweet, claiming it was initially meant as an 'offhand joke' and "more of a means to get the issue out there, that it is rude to text during movies."
"But now that it seems to have taken hold, sure, I'm going to enforce it," he told the website. "Yeah, I'm serious, but I don't think it really affects her life that much."
