Bafta-winning actor Ben Whishaw has taken the lead in the race to play Freddie Mercury in the forthcoming biopic.
The remaining stars of Queen have tipped Whishaw for the role after Sacha Baron Cohen had pulled out of playing the part due to creative differences.
Speaking on BBC's The One Show, Queen drummer Roger Taylor told Chris Evans and Alex Jones that the actor in-line to play Mercury has the initials BW.
When Whishaw's name was mentioned, Taylor replied, "Well, we hope so."
Daniel Radcliffe was rumoured to be in-line for the Mercury role
Whishaw will be best-known for playing Q in last year's James Bond hit Skyfall and looks set to fight off rumoured competition from Daniel Radcliffe and Dominic Cooper for the role.
The Mercury film is set to focus on the period leading up to group's performance at Live Aid in 1985.
