The Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr has squashed rumours that the band are back in the studio after a band email confused fans.
The New York group sent out a fan email newsletter entitled 'Fall 2013 Update' that stated that the band were ready to "return to the scene".
The email started of by saying, "Hey folks, while The Strokes are toiling and writing, looking at 2014 for a return to the scene, Albert Hammond Jr. has been busy on his solo EP…".
However, when quizzed on a possible Strokes return, Drummon said: "We don't know anything yet.
"There's no news or information. We're not writing or doing anything - maybe individually we are, but it's not like we're in the studio or anything."

The Strokes release Comedown Machine in March 2013 and have since gone back to concentrating on solo work, but fans can rest assured that there is life in the US band yet.
Speaking to NME earlier this year, Drummond said: "There might be times when we're not doing things but I don't feel like we'll ever stop.
"We've come to the point where we've been together so long and been through so much that why announce anything besides what we're doing? We're just together."
