Foals' frontman Yannis Philippakis has hit out at 'Elvis impersonators' and bands who use 'backing tracks', when picking up the Best Live Act at yesterdays's Q Magazine Awards.
Marking a great year that saw them headline Latitude Festival and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as acclaimed performances at Reading and Leeds and Glastonbury (which also took home the prize for Best Event), Foals took home the Best Live Act award while Biffy Clyro, Ellie Goulding and Vampire Weekend were also honoured.
BBC News reports that during his acceptance speech, where the band beat the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Mumford & Sons and The Stone Roses, Yannis Philippakis said: "It shows you don't need a backing track, you don't need affectation, you don't need Elvis Presley impersonations."
