Robbie Williams at the Q Awards and many more

At this year's Q Awards Robbie Williams said that he was going to toss his award in a pile with the others in his house. It's clearly not what the hosts or sponsors wanted to hear, but it's certainly not the worst speech an artist has given.

This collection of quotes from speeches ranges from people who just couldn't be bothered to say anything to bands who have behaved so badly they're not even allowed to collect their award. Whilst we feel sympathy for some of the people here, others just come across as ungrateful idiots.

  • The Stereophonics: On winning the 1998 Brit Award for Best New Band, singer Kelly Jones came out with "About time we got some fucking recognition". Charming.

  • Fiona Apple: Accepting the Best New Artist for MTV in 1997 "This world is bullshit. And you shouldn't model your life about what you think that we think is cool and what we're wearing and what we're saying and everything." Yep, nailed it.

  • Justin Bieber: It had to be didn't it? To deafening boos at this year's Billboard Awards "I'm an artist, and I should be taken seriously. This other bull should not be spoken of".

  • Black Rebel Motorcycle Club: At the 2003 NME awards drummer Nick Jago stood on stage in silence for 7 whole minutes before being forcibly removed from the stage. What a tool.

  • Bon Iver: Another new artist winner, this time at the 2012 Grammys. "It's hard to accept because you know, when I started to make songs I did it for the inherent reward of making songs, so I'm a little bit uncomfortable up here." Didn't give it back though.

  • Kanye West: Not the one you think. At the 2008 Brits he gave the following recorded message “They told me about humbleness and humility. I don’t like it, but I heard it helps people when they don’t deserve things.”

  • Robbie Williams: In 2000 he didn't thank anyone, instead asking Liam Gallagher outside "Liam, a hundred grand of your money and a hundred grand of my money. We'll get in a ring and we'll have a fight and you can all watch it on TV" Oh grow up.

  • Noel Gallagher: At this year's GQ Awards he compared the event to a "Tory Party Conference" and blasted Foreign Secretary William Hague for turning up "with shit going on over the world he should be sorting out". To be fair this is pretty good.

  • Justin Timberlake: JT pointed out he found it odd to be received an MTV Award when "MTV doesn't play music any more". That is true, but you didn't have to turn up.

  • KLF: The band weren't even allowed to accept their award at the 1992 Brit Awards. They did manage to fire fake bullets at the crowd though. When they were ejected they left a note attached to a dead sheep saying "I died for ewe - bon appetite". In their defence they were asked to share the award with Simply Red.

  • Robbie Williams: Accepting his Icon award at the 2013 Q Awards, he said: "Of all the made-up awards shows to get a celebrity to come out," and of the award itself, he said its fate was to go "with the heap of them I already have in the house"
