From Coldplay to Toploader - who's still going and who's sunk without a trace?
Next week, Muse will premiere their astounding Live At Rome Olympic Stadium concert movie in cinemas around the world. They describe as the 'concert that their most proud of' - and taking into account the record-breaking and supermassive achievements that they've enjoyed in their career, that's quite an achievement. They've come a long way since their debut album Showbiz, but what about their rivals that also came to our attention in 1999?
With this is mind, we thought we'd have a look back to see how the other bands who came on the scene in 1999 are getting on. As you'll see, it was a pretty lean time for British guitar music, which makes the Devon rockers' rise even more impressive.
Bearing in mind this was almost 15 years ago, a few more than you might expect have gone the distance. So from the White Stripes to Macy Gray, Coldplay to Toploader and Sigur Ros to Slipknot - here are the bands that came about when Muse did. Where are they now?
