- A bat: Ozzy Osbourne famously bit the head clean off a poor bat when it was thrown on stage. He, perhaps reasonably, assumed it was a rubber toy so thought he'd have a bit of fun. Ozzy went down in rock history, sadly it was a career ending injury for the bat.

If a musician's career lasts long enough it's almost inevitable that they will have something thrown on stage at them at one time.
The most common projectiles tend to be glasses filled with beer (or slightly less pleasant liquids) or underwear (if you're Tom Jones). However, some 'fans' really go the extra mile when selecting their airborne love letters to their favourite bands.
