Race for festive chart toppers heats up

Despite strong competition from the likes of Leona Lewis and Avicii, Lily Allen has held the UK No.1 spot yet again, as the race for the Christmas chart topper heats up.
Allen spends a second week at No.1 with her Christmas cover version of Keane's 'Somewhere Only We Know'. Avicii's non-festive club banger 'Hey Brother' is at No.2 and Leona Lewis' 'One More Sleep' is at No.3. Pharrell Williams is at no.4 with his track 'Happy', while Ellie Goulding's 'How Long Will I Love You' climbs two places to No.5, rounding off the Top Five.
Further down the chart, Chase + Status enter at No.28 with their track 'Alive' and Justin Bieber is at No.33 with his new single, 'Confident'.
On the album chart, Robbie Williams' new swing album, Swings Both Ways, returns to the UK No.1 spot, knocking One Direction's Midnight Memories from the top. The album is one of the biggest selling albums of the year in the UK, having sold over 400,000 copies since its release in November 2013.
Gary Barlow is at No.3 with his album Since I Last Saw You and Olly Murs is at No.4 with Right Place, Right Time.
After its surprise release on Friday 13 December, Beyonce makes an impressive chart debut at No.5 with her self-titled new album, after only two days on sale. The album is one of the most talked about albums of 2013, having been released exclusively on iTunes with no prior announcement. It sold nearly 68,000 copies in the UK in its first 48 hours on sale.
