Remember a time before the likes of The 1975, Bastille and Disclosure smashing up the charts and taking pride of place on festival line-ups? Nope, us neither. It's amazing to think, that 12 months ago these bands and more were largely unknown by UK music fans.
2013 has been a spectacular year for music, and the new bands on the scene have contributed hugely to that. Rather than hitting the scene on the bottom rung of the ladder, the likes of Rudimental, Haim and Chvrches feel more like they smashed their way to the top from the word go, and made the year in a music a far more brilliant place.
We've taken a look back at the big bands and artists who we barely knew just 12 months ago, but now, we can't imagine the music world without.
