Everyone is always banging on about how important it is to write your own lyrics in music - but what happens when you're rubbish at it? Even the biggest bands on the planet have dropped some clangers into otherwise epic tracks, and 2013 has seen some true howlers.
In a year where the lyrical content of music by the likes of Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke were the most fiercely discussed, there were plenty of other big-name stars stinking up the airwaves with laughable song lyrics - most often delivered with true sincerity and dedication to their art. Ouch.
So, if you can stomach it, take a look back at some of the worst song lyrics ofr the past 12 months - with pop nonsense alongside some of the worst words from supposedly credible stars...
