The BBC are in the process of revealing their shortlist for the Sound of 2014, the annual countdown of the bands and artists most likely to do big things in the coming 12 months. Already revealed are singer-songwriter George Ezra and urban star Sampha, with three more to come this week.
The poll is voted for by a panel of industry experts and music critics, and this year's longlist includes the likes of Sam Smith (who has already been named the Critics Choice at this year's BRIT Awards) and Ella Eyre (who guested on Rudimental's excellent debut album, Home). Also on the list are Gigwise favourites Say Lou Lou, FKA twigs, Banks and Kelela. Yes, it's another big year for the ladies.
But while we, and the BBC, are looking to the future, what happened this time last year? For every band who finds huge success there's another who misses the mark and more who are yet to hit their stride. Look back through last year's Sound Of 2013 nominees - where are they now and indeed 'who' are they now?
