Queens of the Stone Age: Not only was Like Clockwork one of the finest rock albums of the year, but Josh Homme and co are firm Reading and Leeds favourites who have worked their way up the line-up. After storming their recent UK arena tour, they are are surely due for a headline slot in the next few years, if not 2014.
Black Sabbath: Another strong rumour, especially as they perfectly fit the 'American and British' description of an act already booked. After they stormed back to the top of the charts with 13 this year, one can hope for a heroes' welcome at Reading and Leeds.
Paramore: Did you see them the other when they tore apart the main stage just before Blink 182? They drew an insanely huge and had 'headline material' written all over them. It could happen.
The Vaccines: The indie rockers' star has been relentless rising over the last few years. Could next year see them finally hit pay-dirt and become one of our biggest bands as headliners like Kasabian have before them?
The Prodigy: The rave rock icons will be playing some huge shows this December, and apparently there is new material to be released really soon. They haven't played Reading and Leeds since 2009, and would be welcomed back with open arms and pumping fists.
Slipknot: The metal legends haven't played Reading since 2002 as they pulled out of the 2008 line-up. They played an amazing set at Download Festival this year and with material just around the corner, it seems about time that the gods of WTF brought a little sickness to R&L.
Oasis: It's pretty much the reunion everyone's hoping for, but probably won't get. After success with solo projects like Beady Eye and High Flying Birds, a reconciled Gallagher brothers reunion would make for an awesome headline act. It seems Liam's keen, Noel definitely isn't though. Who knows, miracles do happen.
Manic Street Preachers: They broke their two-year UK festival ban this year at Festival No.6. Could they go the whole hog and follow up on their lauded new album Rewind The Film and next year's Futurology with a headline appearance at Reading and Leeds next year? They've also spoken about playing The Holy Bible in full at Glasto, but it would be pretty cool at R and L too.
Kanye West: Similarly, rap rival Kanye West could do an equally stellar job of headlining the main stage if he wanted to. Yeezus tracks would be pretty terrifying while some of his biggest hits like 'Gold Digger' and 'Jesus Walks'. Imagine that mountain and the Jesus impersonator and Reading and Leeds
Jay Z: He's already headlined Wireless festival this year, and did an incredible job at Glastonbury in 2008. Will Reading and Leeds be next? With Eminem having performed on the main stage this year, Jay Z could become the next big hip hop artist to take R&L by storm?
Foals: Also tipped to be future headliners by Reading and Leeds boss Melvin Benn, Foals are likely candidates. But could headlining in 2014 be a little too soon for them to return? They're already lined up to headline Parklife and Bestival, so R&L is probably a little too much...
Daft Punk: Popularity of the French electro duo is ever-increasing. Their album Random Access Memories was one of the most highly anticipated this year and saw them tipped to play a surprise set at Glasto. That never happened, and probably never will - but if they do head to Reading and Leeds next year, expect futuristic light shows, awesome special guests and probably a few flying pigs...
Chase and Status: Reading and Leeds boss Melvin Benn has personally stated these guys could definitely headline the festivals next year. If the huge crowds they pulled for their set this year are anything to go by, they'll have no problems.
Blur: Teasing us with new songs like 'Under The Westway' and 'The Puritan', and with hints of a new album in the making, Blur could be well on the way to headlining next year's festivals. Especially off the back of their performances at Glastonbury and Hyde Park. However, with Mr Albarn focussing on his solo career, it doesn't half seem doubtful.
