Stunning, intimate pics of music icon revealed

11 never-seen-before photos of Kurt Cobain have been revealed, as fans of the grunge icon prepare to mark the 20 year anniversary of Cobain's untimely death.
The collection of shots, taken by photographer Charles Peterson, have been shared for the first time by US publication Billboard and shows the music legend in action with Nirvana, socialising with other musicians and with his daughter, Francis Bean (see above).
One of the standout shots in the collection sees Cobain talking to Sonic Youth star Kim Gordon, backstage after a Neil Young gig in Seattle in 1991, where Peterson says Cobain was 'starstruck' by the star.
"I could tell that Kurt was pretty starstruck talking to Kim," says Peterson in the commentary. "I'm sure they'd met before on the road. It was before 'Nevermind' was released."

On 5 April, 1994, Kurt Cobain was found dead from a shotgun wound in his Seattle home. The world lost an irreplaceable talent that day - and a generation lost their spokesman. While he may have only left a relatively small body of work behind him, we are still feeling the reach of Nirvana's immeasurable influence today.
