What do singles matter in 2014? Not much - unless you are a faceless dance producer from Eastern Europe, who needs the attention to pay for his next multi-million tour across the world. In this day and age, artists don't necessarily need to whack out single after single to promote their latest record, word of mouth and online fans can do the hard work for them.
This can mean, however, that incredible tracks can be left stranded at the end of an album, never to see the light of day or get their time to shine. When it comes to album tracks of 2014, these are our favourites album tracks of the year so far...
