You know those legendary places around the world: the towns with a sound, cities where the sounds of inhabitants are as much a part of the landscape as the streets and landmarks. These are the cities that inspire the best bands and the most influential waves of talent.
From the dark guitar sounds of Manchester to the ethereal weirdness of Reykjavik, from the classic indie of Sheffield to the essential hip-hop of Chicago and Detroit, from the pioneering electro sounds of Berlin to the bone-shaking grunge of Seattle, many of the world's major cities are responsible for giving us the very vest eras in music.
