Liam Gallagher caused all sorts of fuss with just a few letters when his tweets of 'O', 'A', 'S', 'I' and 'S' on 24 April this month. It's amazing how little can send the music world into an absolute frenzy, but, unless this is just a joke on his behalf, there seems to be no other reason to tweet such incendiary letters. Could it be, could it really?
It was rumoured at the end of 2013 that huge figures were being shoved in the direction of Noel Gallagher to get the band back together - but he turned it all down, with a source telling The Mirror newspaper: "There were hopes he would do it but frankly, he just doesn't want to. The Oasis reunion is well and truly off. He has refused all offers, it got to 20million but even the lure of money like that just didn't work."
Alan McGee revealed he was certain an Oasis reunion would take place in early 2014, when he told The Mirror in early 2014: ""Liam and Noel have got to do it. I think we'll have to wait for the 25th anniversary in a couple of years. They're brothers. You can never predict how things work out."
Is Noel Gallagher more interested in making music with Damon Albarn instead? Albarn told NME in early 2014: "I can imagine that being a very distinct possibility at some point in the future. But, as yet we haven't really talked about it, although..."
Noel Gallagher told Alan Carr on his Chatty Man show in 2013:"It would take Liam or myself to be very skint and I know that is not going to happen."
Andy Bell told FasterLouder.com in early 2013: "I've got no problem doing it all. If the Oasis thing came up, I'd be there like a shot."
Noel, speaking to The AV Club said: "I won't be getting involved in any of that. There's no need for me. I'm not interested in that kind of thing."
Andy Bell told NME in early 2013: "I'm sure Liam would do it in a shot tomorrow."
Speaking out to Time Out's Dubai edition, Noel Gallagher implored: "I wish people would give it up - it's not going to happen".
Even the tabloids were getting in on the action, with The Daily Mail stating in 2013: "If the gigs happened, they would perform Definitely Maybe from start to finish."
...Sadly, in an interview with NME Radio, Noel Gallagher decided that he wouldn't reform "If all the starving children in the world depended on it."
Speaking to The Guardian, Liam stated that: "I'd do it for nout, but if someone's going to grop a load of f***ing money, I'd do it for that too."
...But when Noel Gallagher spoke with TalkSPORT's Andy Goldstein earlier this year has said "It's not going to happen. Unless they're doing it with me, but without me it would be rubbish."
Their brother, Paul Gallagher, recently said on Irish TV: "I'm sure Noel & Liam will reunite Oasis in future".
...But when Noel Gallagher was on Alan Carr's Chatty Man show, he stated: "The day will pass and people will realise the anniversary just has not happened."
Liam Gallagher told NME magazine: "I'd be up for that"
