Belle & Sebastian: 'This album is about letting go'
Scottish indie heroes talk Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance and 'going prog'
Tags: Belle And Sebastian
The words 'dancefloor' and 'Belle & Sebastian' might not gel together, well until now - as new album Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance marries their poetic and whimsical idiosyncrasies with a newfound sense of infectious toe-tapping abandon. It seems like letting go is the order of the day for the Scottish indie heroes.

"I love to dance, I love to party," Belle & Sebastian's Stevie Jackson tells Gigwise. "I don't know if anybody could call this a disco record but it's certainly a record with a pulse...Stuart was coming in with songs, Sarah too, and there was a certain pulse to the writing."
When asked what the themes of the record were, Stevie replied: "Breaking out, release, dancing, there's a few cats on there, and letting go. A lot of it is just about letting go - musically, spiritually and psychologically, maybe even physically."
Check out our interview with Stevie Jackson and Sarah Martin discussing Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance, their evolution, and how their next album will 'inevitably be prog'.
