Calvin Harris: One of the forerunners on the rumour mill, we'd say there's a strong chance that the world's wealthiest DJ could bring is eye-watering live show and plethora of hits to the pop-loving fields of V - he'll certainly be tearing up the EU festival circuit around that time.
Kasabian: The 'Eez-eh' lads from Leicester are currently on a victory lap following their huge 2014 with the rush of success from 48:13 and crowning performance headlining Glastonbury. They're booked for T In The Park, and with no English dates booked, they're also a strong rumour for V.
Bruno Mars: The 'Just The Way You Are' and 'Uptown Funk' export is also rumoured for V this August. Following on from his well-received performance at Wireless 2014, expect him and those silky tones high up somewhere on the bill.
Noel Gallagher: Him and those High Flying Birds are said to be heading to a fair few festivals this summer, including Clapham Calling in London. Now there are whisperings of him topping off summer with a huge slot at V (which would make up for Oasis breaking up at V in 2009). With a smattering of classics and surprising solo favourites, we can see him headlining the second stage or being pretty high on the main.
Pharrell: Another name being bandied about with V, Pharrell remains a genuinely great live hip-hop act - particularly if he brings out either Gwen Stefani or Busta Rhymes.
The Prodigy: Perhaps far, far too scary nowadays for the radio-friendly ears of V, but believe it or not, they're also on the cards and in whisperings of who could be hitting V Festival. Given they've played four times at the festival in the past, rest assured 'Smack My Bitch Up' will be greeted with open arms.
Ellie Goulding: Forever on the rise, we say a major UK headline slot for chart-topping, record-breaking princess of pop Ellie Goulding has been a long-time in the making. If she can sell out The O2, she can certainly top the bill at V.
Mark Ronson: A man with more hits than most and with a festival schedule slowly filling up, we'd say V is the perfect festival for the man behind 'Uptown Funk' . At time of writing, he hasn't performed any of Uptown Special live yet - this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce Mystikal to the delights of Chelmsford.
Ed Sheeran: He's playing three sold-out nights at Wembley Stadium for Pete's sake, surely the time for him to headline V is now? (Just don't tell Kasabian - there may be too many 'squares' for them)
Kanye West: Hey, it could happen - his albums 80 per cent done and he's played the festival already back in 2007. Here's hoping he can keep his rants to a minimum if Yeezy does hit V.
The Killers: Given that they've headlined in 2009, 2012 and 2014 the idea of them headlining 2015 would be ridiculous. However they are touring in the US and have become V Festival's house band...
Taylor Swift: The 1989 phenomenon is the most in-demand name in pop right now, so a V headline slot would make perfect sense. She has some pretty big US dates either side of that weekend though, so it's unlikely, but not out of the question.
