With news that Radiohead will top the bill on the Friday confirmed last week, people's suspicions of who the next headliner will be have been raised and 'Poker Face' star Lady Gaga seems very much in the running.
When NME interviewed the siner, she said:“Glaaaastonbury! I don’t have permission to say anything about that” – her awkwardness to the question suggesting she's had to keep it a secret until the time is right.
The star recently played a stripped back show in the tiny venue called Moth Club in Hackney Central that's famed for its glitter ceiling. But the next shows promise to be more extravagant. She said in the interview: "What I would say to those who are terrified that I’ll never again embrace absurdity or the avant-garde is ‘think again.’”
Meanwhile, Lady Gaga last made an appearance at Glastonbury in 2009, when she had just broke through in the industry, appearing at 8pm on The Other stage. The electro pop star also played to a very small crowd at Club Dada in Shangri La in the early hours. It was a tent that also saw a spectacular surprise set by Damon Albran and Africa Express the same year.
Last week, Lady Gaga released her third album, Joanee, to strong critical acclaim. Mark Ronson and Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) have been involved in the record and it's arguably her most accomplished work to date.
Her hit single 'Perfect Illusion' has reached 40 million views in just over a month.
