They have become one of the biggest newcomers of the year and rightly so, having sold out not one but three dates at London's Brixton Academy this week. Las Vegas pop-rockers Imagine Dragons took to the stage for their first stint last night and they held back no punches.

The entire night was a true spectacle,  far from your usual gig. The stage was littered with a dozen bass drums awaiting to be thwacked by the band members while incredible lighting arrangements beamed down onto a packed audience with a backdrop lit up with raw naturalistic imagery.

Frontman Dan Reynolds was ecstatic, bursting with energy at every turn, often falling to his knees to bang his own drum leaving him short of breath between tracks. His powerful vocals never faltered though, and he remained devotedly humble, giving small heartfelt speeches to tell the crowd how 'at home' the band felt in London, having only flown in from Los Angeles a few hours prior. The returning roar was deafening and it didn't let up the entire night.

Every song drove through with huge choruses and big beats as the band's energy ran high throughout, from celebratory track 'Top of the World' to meatier moments like 'TipToe'. 'Demons' translated into a powerful ballad on stage whilst a cover of Blur's 'Song 2' had the audience uttery beside themselves.

But it wouldn't be complete without the song that made them.Thumper 'Radioactive' shattered the chests of every member of the crowd as the band thwacked every drum on stage in an insane bridge that unfortunately isn't on the original track. A pause of suspension and a blackout on stage had the crowd scream with anticipation before Reynold burst into the final chorus, leaving you breathless by the end.

The performance had celebration written all over it with powerful live songs, a huge voice, huge drums and even bigger confetti balls. It all proves Imagine Dragons are more than ready to sell out huge arenas.
