More Oceansize

Despite the empty plaudits from some sections of the press that Oceansize are up there with rock royalty, as ‘New Pin’ proves, don’t believe what they say. It’s not that it’s particularly bad (or anything that Oceansize have released), it’s just that the exaggerated breathy vocals, the slightly spaced out atmospherics, the supposedly lush guitar hooks are ultimately vacuous. They clearly go all out to provoke an emotion within the listener but go about it in such an obvious, unimaginative way it ends up leaving you feeling empty. Just about the best thing about ‘New Pin’ is the strange electronic noises that bracket the track – more of this please.
