More Nathan Fake

Lifted from easily one of the best albums of 2006 - Nathan Fake's startling debut ‘Drowning In A Sea Of Love’ - ‘You Are Here’ perfectly showcases the young Norfolk lad’s talent. Taking the slow-building crescendo formula of post-rock, yet replacing guitars with delicate electronic plinks and plonks; the track gently reaches a crashing, blissful finale of a swirling, fuzzy wall of white noise. Within its four minutes, Fake effortlessly manages to arouse emotions and get the listener’s hairs standing on end - something that without popping a bag of pills can be a rarity. Elsewhere, the package is augmented by a flat Four Tet remix, a raw live version of ‘You Are Here’ and the live mix of ‘Stops’ - a tune that’s a staple of Border Community supremo James Holden’s inimitable DJ sets. While, despite its brilliant title, the sub-30 second ‘Casio Triangle Through A Granular Synth’ is pretty pointless. Ignore this though as it’s the lead track that truly shines and leaves you waiting with baited breath for Fake’s second album.
