Aussie glam-rockers debut single ‘Lights & Music’ comes a week before their LP but unfortunately 1143 weeks too late for a release in the UK. Claiming to bridge the gap between the vocodered robo-pop of French house and the soaring harmonies of prog, the result is The Human League after one too many doves. The lyrics are cheesey, the melody is dated rather than retro and the beat is weaker than a Malibu and coke. The one positive is Superdiscount’s remix which keeps an echoed play on the vocal and not much else. The heavy yet funky bassline contrasts the Pete Burns-like spoken-verse with some head-fuck effects thrown in for good measure.
Released 21/04/08 on Modular.
