The Olympics opening ceremony was watched by an estimated billion people the world over. So it was quite a big gig for any of the artists performing.
Among the music guests who performed live at the event was Alex Trimble of Two Door Cinema Club - who performed new track 'Caliban's Dream', written by Rick Smith of Underworld, at the show created by Danny Boyle.
"I'm really proud of the performance," said Trimble after the show. "I have so much respect for the team that put it all together. Danny always made time to sit with me one on one and go through things and see how everything was going and with Rick we worked one on one too. In the studio, on the phone, it just felt so personal. Not like something that's gone out worldwide! I'm sure it'll take a few months for the reality to fully sink in"
Following Trimble's performance at the Olympics opening ceremony, we caught up with the Irish trio to discuss the Olympic show and their own sporting skills.
Two Door Cinema Club release their new album Beacon on 3 September 2012. Check back for our full Two Door interview later this month.
