Blending elements of classical, pop and dubstep, British-born musician Emika is one of the most unique new talents on the scene, and recently released her second album, DVA.
A deeply personal and intimate listening experience, Emika describes DVA as "an exploration in sound, with no rules and no wrong ways of working", and her lack of rules has resulted in one of the year's most innovative album releases.
Based in Berlin since an impulsive departure from Bristol, Emika recently returned to the UK for a show in East London, and we caught up with the rising star for a live session, where she performed one of the album's standout tracks, 'Sleep With My Enemies'.
"You can learn a lot from your enemies. You can learn about what's special about you, about what they want from you," she told us. "Friends will always protect you, enemies won't. It's about seducing your enemies in order to get what you want.
"I think I have got more from people who aren't my friends, than I have my friends."
Emika's DVA album is out now. Check out our exclusive live session with her below.
