Willy Moon came to international attention in 2013 with his 50s-influenced debut album, Here's Willy Moon, Top 40 hit 'Yeah Yeah' and seriously dapper retro image.

Now on the European festival circuit, we caught up with the New Zealand singer/songwriter in the idyllic Lake District setting of Kendal Calling to discuss his whirlwind year.

Having risen to fame through MySpace, he discussed the pros and cons of online music consumption, claiming that while he enjoys the return to focus on individual songs, the disposable nature of the blog world could make music seem 'meaningless'.

"One thing I like about the way people consume music online now is that we've gone back to a singles-based mindset, where it's based on songs, which I quite like," he says. "I'm influenced by a lot of 50s music, and that's how music was digested at that time.

"I don't like how throwaway everything is, you listen to something on a blog and everything feels kinda meaningless, it's difficult ot care about anything because there's so much stimulous."

Willy Moon is returning to the studio soon, and is planning to release a new EP. Check out our interview with the rising star at Kendal Calling below.
