One of the highlights of this year's Kendal Calling was The D.O.T, Mike Skinner (The Streets) and Rob Harvey (The Music). The band had flown straight into the UK from a show in Berlin, which they described as the bottom of their rollercoaster weekend - and Kendal Calling their peak.

The duo released their second album, Diary, earlier in 2013, already thoughts have turned to the follow-up - although Skinner reveals thinking about album number three is 'terrifying'.

"We just think it's a bit exciting to be terrified at what the hell we're going to do now, ands that's what I signed up for at the beginning and it was great for us to explore," says Skinner. "I had a thing, they had a thing. After a while, the 'thing' just becomes like a job and I didn't want a job."

"We're spending some time in a studio, four walls, making a new album," adds Harvey. "We want to do something a bit harder."

Skinner also discussed the financial situation experienced by new artists, stating that artists should never pursue a career as a musician if they hope to make money.

"People that have been in big bands, who have made a lot of money in the past, believe that sort of thing should go on for ever," he says. "But you're excluding the fact that there are millions of people out there that want express themselves, so you've just got to decide that you're a musician or go and get a job in a bank."

"I didn't get into music to be successful. I just wanted to make music that got to people."
