Pharrell Williams celebrated his 41st birthday with a double performance on Saturday Night Live last night (5 April), as well as an appearance in one of the show's sketches. And yes, he wore the hat. Watch below.
The musician and producer took to SNL, which was hosted this week by Anna Kendrick, to perform his ubiquitous single 'Happy'. Later in the night, the singer performed 'Marilyn Monroe' alongside film composer Hans Zimmer, with whom he is working on the new Spider-Man film score.
His biggest single, 'Happy', became a sleeper hit after it was written as part of the soundtrack for Despicable Me 2. The song has thus far sold over 3 million copies in the US alone.

Pharrell also starred in the final sketch of the evening, in which he was looking for a backup singer for his live performances. The sketch saw host Anna Kendrick and Vanessa Bayer attempt to wow him with their performance of 'Take Me Or Leave Me' from Rent. Watch out for some gentle hat mocking as well.

Pharrell's second studio album G I R L was released in March, reaching No.1 in the UK albums chart and No.2 in the US. The singer is currently preparing to open for Bruno Mars on tour, as well as perform at the US Coachella festival this month. He's also set to play the UK's Wireless Festival in July.
Next week's SNL is being hosted by Seth Rogen, with musical guest Ed Sheeran.
