It seems that Nicki Minaj's days of abrasive, hi-energy pop are behind her, having dropped yet another slick slice of credible hip hop. Listen to her new track 'Chi-Raq' below.
Minaj left many rap fans confused when she ditched the hip-hop stylings of her early days in favour of dance tracks such as as 'Pound The Alarm' and 'Starships'. In recent months, however, she appears to be back to her best, with recent releases (such as 'Looking Ass Ni**as' in February of this year) having proven impressive insights into the next step of her career.
'Chi-Raq' is a dark, mid-tempo track which carries sinister undertones in its simple, elegant production. Minaj is joined by rising star Lil' Herb on the new track. Listen below.
The track comes ahead of the star's new album, The Pink Print, which is due for release later in 2014, although neither 'Chi-Raq' or 'Looking Ass Ni**as' have been confirmed as album tracks.
