It has been widely reported in tabloids that Metallica will be headlining Glastonbury. Some are excited, others a little dubious. If there was ever a gig to prove Metallica's epic stage prowess, however, it's this. Watch their S&M gig from 1999 below.
The 1999 concert is one that went down in metal history, proving once and for all that Metallica were not only hugely diverse performers but also how well written their songs are. In performing with a classical orchestra a back catalogue can sound like classics and that is exactly what happened with James Hetfield and company with the S&M show.

There is no doubt that if Metallica are topping the bill on the Saturday they will be pulling out all the stops. That means a whole heap of special guests, potentially an orchestra, new material and a general helping of rock badassery. Remember no-one wanted Jay Z and then he blew them away.
