Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison has unveiled his first solo material from an upcoming album under the name of 'Owl John'. Check out 'Hate Music' below.

Taking to the band's official Facebook page, Hutchison revealed the first track under the name of 'Owl John' - his moniker on Twitter and Instagram - revealing that a full solo album is coming soon.

"These will not be Frightened Rabbit songs," he said. "These will be John's songs. This is the first of them. I've been working on the Owl John album since February and it is nearly ready. Here's a taster in the form of 'Hate Music'. More to come, all in good time.

The track features some heavy Mogwai-esque searing guitar, leading into Hutchison's inimitable Scottish drawl of fear and loathing. It leans away from F'Rabbit's folk-tinged sounds, and closer to a more terrifying, post-rock sound. All in all, it all sounds bloody brilliant - and we can't wait to hear the album.

Meanwhile, Frightened Rabbit are gearing up for a run of UK festival appearances this summer at 2000Trees, LeeFest, Wakestock, Kendal Calling and Belladrum Tartan Heart. For more information visit Gigwise tickets
